About Cristina
I am passionate about guiding couples and families to create secure relationships and personal wellbeing utilizing Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). I support couples to enhance communication, connection, and intimacy. I am well-versed in helping distressed and high conflict couples heal the past, develop practical relationship skills, and restore their bond. I am also well-experienced in working with parents and families, with children of all ages, as they navigate parent-child relationships, family dynamics, mental health, and social/emotional wellbeing.
You will find me to be non-judgmental and non-shaming. At the same time, I am a directive therapist and compassionately challenge my clients to do the work they need to do to make the changes they want to make. My therapeutic approach is rooted in the healing and corrective power of relationships. I assist my clients with deep emotional processing and teach tools that can be utilized in everyday life.
I hold a Master of Arts degree in Marital and Family Therapy and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of San Diego. I have advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, am currently pursuing EFT Certification, and serve as Chair on the Leadership Board at the San Diego Center for Emotionally Focused Therapy. I am Certified in Perinatal Mental Health through Postpartum Support International.
I delight in creating community and see myself as an advocate for parent, child, and family mental health in the Encinitas area and beyond. I enjoy teaching Hold Me Tight Couples Workshops® and am a Certified Joy of Parenting Instructor training under Susie Walton of Indigo Village. When I am not with clients, you can find me running, hiking, practicing yoga, surfing, and enjoying my life partner and our five children.
