James Hanson, MA, LMFT
James is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Alliant International University B.A. in Psychology from California State University, San Marcos. James started his counseling career working with co-occurring mental health and addiction related issues. James has over five years of experience providing therapy services to adults, couples, and families to help them improve relationships, attain career satisfaction, enhance functioning, and promote connection and growth. James finds personal fulfillment in supporting others as they navigate challenges, and move forward, to attain their goals utilizing evidenced based practices. He has a special interest in working with couples, spouses, parents, and families that are navigating addiction and the recovery process. James has a relational approach that draws from Emotionally Focused Therapy and other evidence-based practices. He thrives outdoors and previously ran a mental health Adventure Therapy program at Bright Quest Behavioral Health Center This program was designed to help others gain reparative experiences and overcome mental, physical, and psychological barriers. In his free time, James enjoys climbing, running, freediving, and golfing. In his downtime he appreciates reading, painting, and spending quality time with family and friends.
