Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist & Clinical Supervisor

Integrative Family Therapy, a couple and family therapy practice based in Encinitas, California, is seeking a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Clinical Supervisor to join our team. The ideal candidate is trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy and is well experienced in therapy with couples, adults, children, teens, and families. We are seeking one LMFT that is interested in building a private practice caseload at IFT while providing supervision to associate therapists. This is the perfect position for a therapist wanting to work in a private pay practice setting without running their own business. Therapists at our practice focus on providing quality therapy services to our clients while our administrative team handles billing, marketing and most administrative tasks.

We are seeking therapists for the following positions:

Couples therapist

You care about helping couples and adults improve romantic relationships. The idea of immersing in couples therapy excites and energizes you. You are dedicated to your own relationship growth and and know understand the positive impact of helping couples strengthen their bond. You are trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy and are dedicated to the ongoing development of your craft. You are open to feedback and learning, are eager to collaborate with other therapists, and feel confident supporting other therapists. You are skilled in counseling a range of presenting problems such as communication, emotional dysregulation, anxious and avoidant attachment, high conflict, highly escalated couples, infidelity, sexual concerns, trauma, parenting, family and divorce. You are comfortable working with traditional and non traditional relationship structures including those that identify as polyamorous.

Parent Therapist

You are interested in counseling parents in the areas of mental health, relationships and/or raising children with special/high needs, sensitive nervous systems and big emotions. You possess the unique ability to see families through the lens of compassion and strength. You believe that parents, children and families are doing the best they can with the resources they have. You believe that parents are the most important resource for their children. You love the idea of partnering with parents to provide them with excellent therapy, skills, tools and education so they can show up for themselves and the people that they love the most. You are familiar with attachment theory, Emotionally Focused Family Therapy and trauma-informed therapy. You follow the work of parenting experts such as Dr. Dan Siegel, Dr. Tina Payne Bryson, Dr. Bruce Perry, Dr. Becky and Robyn Gobbel. You are experienced in working with anxiety, ADHD, depression, grief, loss, trauma, relationship/marital challenges, family conflict, and emotional regulation. Child/ Adolescent Therapist

You are experienced in counseling children ages 5 to 18 and want to immerse in this work. You possess the unique ability to bring play, creativity, curiosity, joy and connection to therapy sessions while holding structure and therapeutic effectiveness. You understand child/teen behavior through the lens of relationships and the nervous system. You are trauma-informed and interested in interpersonal neurobiology, family therapy and attachment theory. You have discovered that when children are seen, heard, valued and connected with that they show up in pro-social ways. You appreciate the idea of immersing in the child/teen therapy and supporting parents in the form of parent education or family therapy. You see each and every child as brilliant, strong and capable. You believe that coordination of care among treatment providers such as pediatricians, case managers, occupational therapists, psychologists, psychiatrists is sometimes a vital aspect of care. You are accepting of all identities, cultures, races, religions, races and ethnicities. You are comfortable working with anxiety, ADHD, neurodiversity, depression, grief, loss, trauma, family conflict, divorce, self harm, and emotional dysregulation.

Clinical Supervisor

You have been licensed for at least two years and have completed training in clinical supervision (or willing to upon employment, which will be reimbursed). You are excited about mentoring associate therapists and find meaning in supporting other therapists to develop clinical skills and confidence. You are professional, hold strong boundaries, adhere to the laws and ethics that govern MFTs, and are gifted with empathy and compassion. You are confident in navigating intakes, diagnosis, and treatment planning. You are experienced in self harm, suicidality, and crisis situations. You have experience doing couples therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy. You like the idea of balancing a personal caseload along with supervision.

    Duties:

  • Conduct 15 or more therapy sessions each week with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families in office and telehealth settings.

  • Conduct one weekly group supervision with two AMFTs.

  • Work at our Encinitas office at least two days per week.

  • Complete notes and treatment plans within 24 hours of appointments.

  • Stay up to date on all clinical documentation so that it is completed within 24 hours of appointments.

  • Provide the highest level of professionalism, compassion, warmth and care with your clients, therapists and administrative staff at Integrative Family Therapy.

  • Respond to clients and administrative communications promptly, and by the end of each work day.

  • Attend administrative and leadership meetings as assigned.

  • Stay informed of all changes and deadlines associated with the Associate Marriage and Family Therapist Registration and the BBS and stay in communication on these items with your supervisees.

  • Complete all paperwork and sign progress notes to ensure that associate therapists are meeting requirements.

  • Adhere to all legal and ethical guidelines of the Marriage and Family Therapy profession, the California Board of Behavioral Sciences, and the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.

  • Manage and maintain confidential client information and adhere to HIPAA policies.

  • Seek consultation as needed.

  • Follow procedures regarding clients that are a danger to self or others.

Minimum Requirements

  • Masters Degree in Couple and Family Therapy, Counseling, or related program of study.

  • Current Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with the Board of Behavioral Sciences.

  • Experience and strong interest in the position you are applying for: couples therapist, parent therapist, child therapist, trauma therapist and divorce therapist.

  • Able to hold and maintain 15 therapy sessions or more every week.

  • Able to work at our Encinitas office at least 2 afternoons/evenings per week.

  • Able to have caseload developed over a 3 to 6 month period.

  • Able to conduct weekly group supervision with two associate therapists.

  • Complete a minimum of 15 hours of supervision training that meets the course provider and course content requirements specified in regulation within 60 days of commencement of supervision. Six hours of continuing professional development in supervision is required for all supervisors each renewal cycle thereafter.

Preferred Requirements

We are seeking therapists that have completed the Emotionally Focused Therapy Externship.
